EXTRA Cans For The Needy - CALIFORNIA'S NEW GOLD RUSH
A new non-profit program designed by movie and TV "extras"
for people in extra need, changing the world, one can at a time
Los Angeles - January 12, 2007 - Extra Cans for the Needy will hold its national kick-off at marcjoseph, Wednesday, January 31 from 2:00-3:00 pm. Celebrity spokesperson Sharon Lawrence will be on hand, as well as Ed Begley, Jr. and his wife Rachelle Carson, Thom Bierdz, Steve Callahan, Harrison, of "Harrison - On The Edge!," and "Extra Cans" founder and director Mystery Mike Hennessey to present this brilliant charity program to dozens of Los Angeles' finest restaurateurs, political leaders and celebrities.
Mystery Mike Hennessey was working as an extra on the set of "ER" as he began collecting cans and recyclables, then giving them directly to the homeless. They take the empties to redemption centers, and benefit from the cash returns to help lift them from homelessness.
The brilliant concept, run entirely by volunteers, has caught major media attention. Supporters of the program include dozens of political leaders and celebrities, many of whom will be on hand for the kick-off event. Soon, Extra Cans for the Needy will be a national phenomenon, with its heart directly from the soul of a movie extra in Hollywood.
